1. PSYCHIATRIC FITNESS FOR DUTY EXAMINATIONS:

These determine for an employer whether an employee is capable of performing in a particular workplace position based on the worker’s emotions, behaviour, thoughts, and interactions with others.

2. RETURN TO WORK PROGRAMS:

Psychiatric advice on tailored programs which are designed to reintroduce workers who have been ill, back into the workplace. It includes consultations with rehabilitation consultants.

3. ADVICE ON MANAGEMENT AND REFERRAL:

Knowing where to get appropriate and high standard treatment for workers who are stressed or depressed can be a problem for employers and Human Resources managers. With our familiarity of local mental health treatment resources Occupational Psychiatry can help link employees to appropriate treatment programs.

4. ADVICE ON DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROBLEMS IN THE WORKPLACE:

At Occupational Psychiatry we have our own experts who can advise on how such problems can be prevented and/or managed either collectively or for an individual.

6. ORGANIZATIONAL CONSULTATION:

Workplaces where stress is high and where increasing numbers of workers compensation claims reflect that, often benefit from participating in an organizational analysis which provides feedback to employers on what can be done to reduce workplace stress so as to limit further workers compensation claims.

The Occupational psychiatrist possesses the training and skills to provide effective organizational analysis. Systematic review of psychiatric problems of workers is utilized to identify key workplace systems that impact on the quality and efficiency of an organization.
